CharWise Privacy Policy

Overview

CharWise is a personal finance management app designed to help you track expenses, manage budgets, and monitor your accounts. Your privacy is important to us, and we've built CharWise with a privacy-first approach.

Data We Do NOT Collect

CharWise does not collect or have access to:

• Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
• Your financial data (transactions, account balances, budgets)
• Your location or device identifiers
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Contacts, photos, or other device data

Local Data Storage

All data you enter into CharWise — including transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, and recurring transactions — is stored exclusively in a local database on your device. This data never leaves your phone unless you explicitly choose to export it.

Data Export & Import

CharWise provides the ability to export your data as a JSON backup file and import it back. When you export data:

• The backup file is created locally on your device
• You control where the file is saved or shared
• No data is sent to our servers during this process

Third-Party Services

CharWise does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No data is shared with third parties.

Permissions

CharWise may request the following device permissions:

• Storage access — Only when you choose to export/import backup files or save receipt images
• Camera/Photos — Only when you attach a receipt image to a transaction
• Microphone — Only when you use voice input to add transactions

These permissions are requested only when needed and are never used to collect data in the background.

Data Deletion

You have full control over your data. You can delete all app data at any time using the "Reset Everything" option in Settings. Uninstalling the app will also permanently remove all stored data from your device.

Children's Privacy

CharWise does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or collect any personal data from any user.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
